Dangle
A mobile app that turns household chores into fun games, allowing children to earn points and rewards by completing tasks set by their parents.
Overview
The founder of Dangle approached me to create a mobile app that turns household chores into engaging games for kids. While he had a clear product concept, he needed strategic direction to bring the design to life – he had no UI/UX framework in place and required my expertise to execute a simple, playful user experience.
Without a clear design direction, the founder was unsure how to translate his vision into a user-friendly interface that would appeal to both parents and children. This gap in design strategy was hindering the product’s ability to fully engage its target audience.
The Challenge
How might we simplify the process of creating tasks and rewards for children, such that it leads to more chores being completed?
Gamifying the
User Experience
Studies show that apps that incorporate gamification see a 50% higher engagement rate than non-gamified apps. Additionally, intuitive UI/UX design can improve user retention by up to 30%, which is critical in child-focused apps where simplicity and engagement are impactful.
Drawing inspiration from successful apps like Headspace and Duolingo, I infused the interface with animations and visual elements that delighted both parents and children, fostering a sense of accomplishment with every completed task.
Mapping the
Customer Journey
I worked closely with the founder to define key user flows, craft user personas, and establish a UI direction from scratch.
I designed dozens of high-fidelity screens and mobile mockups, carefully crafting custom microinteractions to ensure a playful and engaging experience.
Creating More
Delightful Interactions
I delivered modern, visually appealing UI that not only met the founder’s vision but exceeded his expectations.
The redesigned app was more intuitive, making it easy for parents to manage tasks and rewards while ensuring a fun, gamified experience for kids.
