The tool stack that survived 2026

I try most new design and AI tools that ship. Very few survive contact with real client work. Here is what is still open every day.

Figma. Still the center of gravity: flows, high-fidelity UI, prototypes, and the design systems that keep client work consistent.

Claude. First drafts of UX copy, edge-case brainstorming, and increasingly the glue code for prototypes. The trick is treating it like a sharp junior partner: great output, always reviewed.

Linear. Client work moves at sprint cadence, and Linear is the only tracker I have used that never makes me think about the tracker.

Notion. Project memory: decisions, research notes, and the “why” behind every design that someone will ask about in three months.

The pattern across all four: they disappear while you work. That is the whole bar a tool has to clear.
