Privacy Policy
This site is run by Brendan Ho, a freelance product designer trading as SaaS Designer. It is a portfolio and enquiry site: there are no accounts, no logins, no shopping cart, and nothing is sold or shared with data brokers or advertisers.
What gets collected
When you submit the enquiry form
The Book a Call form collects your name, work email, company or product name, and your message. Budget range, ideal kickoff, and how you found me are optional. Alongside those, the submission records the page it was sent from and the time it was sent.
That information is used for one purpose: to read your enquiry and reply to it. It is not added to a mailing list, and you will not receive marketing from me because you filled in this form.
When you simply browse
Analytics record the usual anonymous page-level data: which pages load, roughly where in the world the visit came from, referring site, and general device and browser type. See Analytics and cookies below for who processes that and how to opt out.
Your IP address and location
Two parts of the site use your IP address, and it is worth being precise about both because neither stores it.
- Spam protection. The enquiry endpoint counts recent submissions per IP address to stop automated abuse. The count lives in the server's memory for a few minutes and is discarded. The address is never written to a database, never included in the notification email, and never sent to me.
- The greeting on the Book a Call page. That page may greet you with an approximate city. The lookup happens on the server while the page is being built for you, using location data the hosting provider derives from the connection. Your IP address is never sent to the browser, never exposed in the page, and the resulting city is not stored anywhere. If the location is not available, the greeting simply says "Hey there!" instead.
Analytics and cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. The single item stored in your browser is your light or dark theme preference, kept in local storage on your device so the site remembers it on your next visit. It never leaves your browser.
Two analytics tools run on the site:
- Umami, a privacy-focused, self-hosted analytics tool. It sets no cookies and does not build a profile of you across sites.
- Google Analytics, which does set cookies and does create an identifier for your browser. Google acts as a processor for this data. If you would rather not be measured by it, Google publishes anopt-out browser add-on, and most browsers' tracking protection or an ad blocker will also stop it loading.
Who else handles your data
I keep the list of third parties as short as I reasonably can. In full, they are:
- Netlify hosts the site and serves every page. Like any web host, its servers process connection data, including IP addresses, in order to deliver pages and to protect against abuse.
- Mailgun delivers enquiry notifications to my inbox. The contents of your enquiry pass through and are logged by their service.
- Google Analytics and Umami, as described above.
Fonts, animations, and images are served from this site's own domain rather than a third-party CDN, so browsing does not quietly hand your details to anyone else.
How long it is kept
Enquiries stay in my email inbox so I have a record of our conversation, and I remove them when they are no longer relevant to a live or prospective project. Mailgun retains its delivery logs for a limited period set by their service. Analytics data is retained according to each tool's configured retention window. The rate-limiting count described above lasts minutes, not longer.
Your rights
You can ask me what personal data of yours I hold, ask for a copy of it, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email[email protected] and I will handle it directly. There is no form to fill in and no account to close. If you are in the UK, EU, or another region with statutory data-protection rights, those rights apply, and the lawful basis for handling enquiry details is your submission of them so I can respond.
Children
This is a business-to-business design site. It is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes to this policy
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. There is no version history to dig through: this page always describes what the site does right now.
