Flora

Group focus sessions with shared stakes: quit, and the tree dies.

Flora grows a tree while you stay focused and kills it if you abandon a protected session. Around that core it adds to-dos, habit streaks, progress bars, and repeating goals, so a single session mechanic extends into longer-term consistency.

Its most interesting move is social: group rooms let friends focus in the same session with shared stakes, and a successful group session can award participants one another’s trees. The social mechanic is cooperation, not ranking; you succeed together or watch the tree die together.

The design lesson: shared stakes recruit social accountability without a leaderboard. When letting a partner down is the penalty, the motivation is interpersonal rather than numerical, which suits behaviours people prefer not to compete on.
